GARBAGE PAIL KIDS

     The two print runs of the 3^rd series Garbage Pail Kids are almost the same, containing 64 cards from the 3^rd U.S. series and 18 cards from the 4^th U.S. series that were added to the end of the series.  The wrapper can be found in red or in green colors with the "Jason basin" character released in 1986 and also in a green color with the "Adam bomb" character released in 1987.   I believe the red wrapper was intended to be the last series made, but the continued success prompted a re-release and the green wrapper was developed, hence the same number codes on both wrappers. The 3rd wrapper may have been intended for foreign release or a third print run due to increased sales.  The eighteen 3^rd U.S. series cards not used in this set were replaced by eighteen cards from the 4^th series which messed up the numbering system for the 4^th U.K. and remaining series.  The set contains 47 variations.

Card Variations: Same As Above

1. The Red Wrapper is the Same As the 6^th U.S. Series with the GPK character "JASON Basin". All the other U.K. series have "ADAM Bomb" on the wrapper.

2. The only U.K. series with a Green Name Bar. Cards 93a "DREW Blood" and 93b "Bustin’ DUSTIN". The U.S. version has a light blue name bar.

3. Card 110a "Snooty SAM" is written in Black Or White. The U.S. version is only white.


4. Card 118a "Half- NELSON" has a White Number, but the U.S. version has a black number. Both U.K. and U.S. cards for 118b have black numbers.


5. The "Mugged MARCUS" puzzle is used, but the card is Not Depicted In The Series.

6. There are three Name Changes for the U.K. cards compared to the U.S. versions.

          Name change from U.S. 105a "Juicy JESSICA" to U.K. 105a "Juicy LUCY";

          Name change from U.S. 115b "Well Done SHELDON" to U.K. 115b "Well Done DON";

          Name change from U.S. 119a "NED Head" to U.K. 119a "TED Head":

7. The Checklist has card 85b "Pinned LYNN" spelled "Pinned LYNNE".

8. The Checklist has card 129b "Trashed TRACY" spelled "Thrashed TRACEY".

9. Card 125b "Oak KAY" is found Without A Number.


10. Card 130a "NICKY Hickey" has a Red Name Bar, but the U.S. version has a dark pink name bar.


11. Cards 140a "Mouth PHIL" and 140b "Tooth LES" have Red GPK Headers, but the U.S. versions have pink GPK headers.
