Release Date: APRIL 2005

The "All-New" Series 4 GPK were released in the spring of 2005 by Topps, Inc. and distributed in April. A total of 1 print run was released during a constant interest of old 80's nostalgic toys and hobbies. The new GPK series is comprised of all new artwork by veteran GPK artists John Pound, Tom Bunk, James Warhola, and concept artwork by Jay Lynch. This series also includes next-generation GPK artists Luis Diaz, Ray Lago, David Gross, Strephon Taylor, Scott Shaw (who worked on the comic backs with Lynch), newcomers John Cebollero, Claude St. Aubin, Mark Sparacio, and George Wright, and concept artist Jeff Zapata (who had taken over for John Williams as art director since the ANS3 release), and lastly Justin Green and Don Perlin who contributed to the sketch cards and whose work will appear in future GPK projects. The naming panel for the gags were written by Lynch, Pound, Bunk, Zapata, and Williams. For the first print run, each foil pack (with a suggested retail price of 99¢) contains 5 sticker cards on 14 card stock (with a great glossy finish), with 1 Game card on 12 cards stock, and a chance to come across a Scratch 'n' Stink sticker (inserted one in every 6 packs) or a Tattoo card (inserted one in every 4 packs), and an artist autographed Sketch card which will come one per hobby box (not found in retail boxes). The set also contains 4 bonus cards that can be found in special 'bonus boxes' located at different retail chains. The Game cards are re-worked artwork of characters from the original releases outsourced outside of Topps and drawn by Efrain Cintron of the art Studio "Apt. 5A". The series once again starts back at number one.

1. The All-New 4th Series is the First Set To Contain "Game" Cards, numbering 1 - 36, created by Efrain Cintron of the art Studio "Apt. 5A". Each pack comes with a "Game Rules" card. Three of the 36 Game Cards are hard-to-find Foil Cards that have a ratio of 1 out of every 72 packs (1:72). The set also features "Scratch 'N Stink" stickers for the third time, first appearing in the ANS2 set numbering twelve, with twenty-four in the ANS3 set, and this time numbering back to twelve, S1a/b - S6a/b with a ratio of 1:6. The cards have a lower case "s" instead of the upper case "S" as before. A parody of the famous CGG cards (Pokémon, etc.)

2. The Original "tentative" ANS4 Checklist was Changed replacing a few of the original names: Base cards 25b "Low Man DAN" became 25b "High Man DAN", 40a "ADAM Da Bomb" and "40b "Nuked LUKE" changed to 40a "ADAM Bomb" and 40b "Blasted BILLY"; Scratch 'n' Stink card names S4a "TBD" (to be determined) became S4a "FORREST Sump"; S4b "Wasted WARREN" became S4b "Wastin' JASON"; S5a "TBD" became S5a "Stink Blot STEPHANIE"; S5b "Must See LEE" became S5b "Rorschach TESSA"; S6a "TBD" became S6a "VINNIE Vomit"; and S6b "Up N' Away JAY" became S6b "Barf Bag BRAD"; and Tattoo card #9 of 10 "Scuba Doo LOU" changed to #9 of 10 "ADAM Bomb".

3. The All-New Series 2 Wacky Packages set contains a card back that has a small parody of Topps.com called "The Slopps Company, Inc." which includes various products found on the companies website including a small Parody of Garbage Pail Kids World titled "Gone To Jail Kids World" - card # 41 "Queerasil".


4. Two of artist Luis Diaz's pieces pay Tribute to older GPK sets by placing die-cut sticker images throughout his Artwork: Cards 17a "WALTER Cooler" and 17b "Wizzin' WILL" showcase the following GPK characters bulletin board next to the water cooler (from top to bottom) - 2nd series 53a "Jolted JOEL" and 53b "Live MIKE"; 2nd series 68a "OLIVER Twisted" and 68b "Dizzy DAVE"; and 3rd series cards 87a "Hot Head HARVEY" and 87b "ROY Bot" - the piece also contains the "LD Monster" image. Cards B7 "Propelled MIGUEL" contain the following GPK characters along the lower left hand floor (from top to bottom) - 4th series 131a "Stuffed STEPHEN" and 131b "RUTHERFORD B. Hay"; 4th series 157a "LARRY Lips" and 157b "Distortin' MORTON"; and the 4th series cards 159a "Catty CATHY" and 159b "KITTY Litter" (behind the name bar) - the character is also wearing a t-shirt with the 1st series image of cards 8a "ADAM Bomb" and 8b "Blasted BILLY".

5. The All-New 4th Series is also the First Set To Contain "Tattoo" Cards numbering 1 - 10 that have a ration of 1 out of every 4 packs (1:4). GPK Tattoos first showed up in the Italian SGORBIONS "Holidays" set.

6. The series contains five Card Pairs that can be found With Black And White Numbers. This phenomenon can be found in the original 2nd series with cards 46a and 46b, in the original 3rd series with variation cards 113a, and within the 7th series with variation cards 289b. ANS4 cards 17a (white #) and 17b (black #); 21a (white #) and 21b (black #); 23a (white #) and 23b (black #); 24a (white #) and 24b (black #), and 26a (black #) and 26b (white #).

7. Two Luis Diaz Signature Pieces can be found within two different pieces of artwork. The "LD Monster" is portrayed on the cork bulletin board of cards 17a "WALTER Cooler" and 17b "Wizzin' WILL" - the LD Monster can be found throughout the ANS5 set. The pink water bottle, which makes a second appearance after the ANS3 set, in cards 36a "NOAH's Barf" and 36b "High-Water MARK", is within the barf to the far left corner of the picture - the pink squirt bottle makes other appearances in the ANS5 set as well. The same card also pays tribute to the Wacky Package artwork completed by artist Luis Diaz by placing the ANS2 WP parody product #10 "STARDUCK'S", a Starbuck's coffee cup, within the barf (middle barf area to the left).


8. In early 2006, Garbage Pail Kids Underground (GPKUG) together with GPD released a home-made CD titled "Garbage Parody Kids" with 14 hilarious songs spoofing the GPKids characters. The cover artwork was done by artist Luis Diaz and reworked from an unpublished ANS3 GPK concept piece -- the cover artwork includes the GPK cards 26a "Slobby ROBBIE" and 26b "fat MATT", 53a "Jolted JOEL" and 53b "Live MIKE", 74a "MARK Bark" and 74b "Kennel KENNY", and ANS4 33a "Hollow WAYNE" and 33b "JACQUELINE Lantern" and his popular LD Monster character. As a special bonus, a numbered sketch card out of 100 was included with the CD sketched by Luis Diaz to match the ANS4 sketch card craze, printed on thin card stock paper -- slight variations can be found (another sketch card has a green boxing glove) - a second CD is in the works.


9. The All-New 4th Series is also the First GPK Set To Contain "Sketch" Cards numbering 1/1 (one-of-a-kind found one per hobby box). Seven GPK artists worked on the Sketch cards; veteran artists John Pound (1:101), Tom Bunk (1:1138), and Jay Lynch (1:218); next-generation artists Strephon Taylor (1:164) and John Czop (1:3297) who worked on the newer GPK series'; and newcomers Don Perlin (1:164) and Justin Green (1:164), both comic illustrators, whose work will appear in future GPK projects. James Warhola's artwork shows up on the back of the sketch cards which is the original artwork for 486a and 486b of the 12th series GPK. An eigth sketch card artist, GPK art director Jeff Zapata, drew and autographed exlusive sketch cards for the San Diego 2005 Comic Con on official Topps card stock along with Strephon Taylor.

10. Artist Tom Bunk's first Name "TOM" can be found on the bottled condiment titled "Tom's Salad Dressing" within the cards for 16a "COLE Slawed" and 16b "SAL Salad".

11. If you wrote to GPK artist Strephon Taylor and sent him cards to sign, he would also send back a Personalized "GFK" (Garbage Fail Kid) Slopps "Retch" Card that parodies the Topps "Sketch" card (See "Sketch" card back above in #6). The image of Strephon Taylor was taken from the "Autograph" card from the Silly CD's : Series II release.


12. The fithteenth series to contain cards with The GPK Acronym found within the artwork. The GPK acronym is found on the earing "GPK" of cards 2a "PARIS Embarrassment" and 2b "MARIS Wiltin'", on the sign "Camp GPK" of cards 10a "COLIN Bowel" and 10b "Scoutin' SCOUT ", on the subway train "GPK Express" of cards 14a "Headless LESLIE" and 14b "MADISON Halved", on the "GPK 4 Sale" sign pinned to the bullitin board of cards 17a "WALTER Cooler" and 17b "Wizzin' WILL", on the gass station pump "Premium G.P.K. Gas" of cards 28a "Fuelin' JULIAN" and 28b "Gassin' GRANT", and on the airplane cup titled "GPK Air" of cards S6a "VINNIE Vomit" and S6b "Barf Bag BRAD".

13. The series 20-piece "Puzzle Puke" Back Artwork completed by Jay Lynch and Scott Shaw is a returned theme from the orginal 11th and 13th series GPK backs.


14. The series Checklist is a first for any GPK series and Contains Font Of Different Sizes (the name is larger then the word), much like the Trash Can Trolls checklist without the 'bold' appearance. The "Insert" checklist remains in the same style as previous releases without the different font sizes.

2. The Unpublished Piece from ANS3 36a "Starstruck CHUCK" and 36b "MARSHALL Artless" (which was replaced with 36a "Offensive OSCAR" and 36b "Foul FERNANDO") by artist Luis Diaz has been published in the ANS4 set as 7a "Nin JACK" and 7b "MARSHALL Artless". Another unplublished ANS3 piece by Ray Laugo entitled "Frankenfurter", a classic monster pic of Frankenstein in a held hotdog bun with another hand applying mustard, was published in the ANS4 set as S1a "FRANK N. Wiener" and S1b "OSCAR Mire".




3. A Packaging Concept by artist Jay Lynch that did not make the series - as auctioned off of eBay through the Topps Vault in the Fall of 2006. The piece depicts a Kid climbing out of the garbage. Some of the suggested names : "BERNARD Discard", "BRUCE Refuse", "Uncanny DANNY", "Recycled BILL" and "JOHNNY Trash" (a name parody of Johnny Cash).


3. A few ANS4 pieces came from Pencil Roughs Of John Pound's and Tom Bunk's back in 1988 during the Original GPK Releases that were later redrawn by Jeff Zapata for the new releases. 13a "Fallen ANGEL" and 13b "Airsick ARIEL " (JP); 14a "Headless LESLIE" and 14b "MADISON Halved" (TB); 15a "Jumpin' JEN" and 15b "MEGAN Trouble" (JP).
