RELEASE
PERIOD : SPRING 2018
In 2018, the Sgorbions brand was re-released by Topps Europe Ltd. and printed and distributed throughout Italy. The set is a direct replication of the 2008 Kakkones Series 1 release based off of the early U.S. All-New Series releases, with cards measuring slightly smaller than 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches, that are non-die cut; peeling from the edges. An album and magazine accompanied the release. NOTE, although the set is a reproduction of the ANS1 Kakkones set released in 2008, ten years prior, it's not exactly the same; four characters were replaced with ANS2 Kakkones characters. The set's description: The All-New Series 1 Kakkones, the first disgusting GPK 'card game', was released in the late summer or early fall of 2008 by Topps Europe Ltd. (Merlin Collections), and made in Italy. A total of 1 print run was released during a resurrection of the 80's nostalgic GPK period in the U.S. with all-new releases. The Italian Kakkones set is comprised of 96 images from the older, original GPK sets and from the all-new releases, without any A-name or B-name twin cards. Including 10 Animate cards, which are two-image Motion cards. Each paper pack contains 4 game cards, an opportunity for a Animate card, and folded card game instructions. The set contains cards the same size (2.5 x 3.5 in) as the Sgorbions releases from the early 1990's. |

Although this rendition doesn't advertise
it like the 2008 verion, the 96 Game Card
base set is set up into 'gross' categories with the 10 animate, that
are 'specialty' game cards. The character image on the card front
matches the theme of the game card on back, although some stray drastically
from this rule-of-thumb. Categories: Injury (red circle with crossed
bandaids, cards 1 - 22); Vomit (mustard yellow circle with vomit splatter,
cards 23 - 40), Mucus (yellow circle with green snot patch, cards
41 - 58), Acne/Zits (purple cirle with a pimple postule, cards 59
- 74), and Fecal (brown circle with toilet bowl image, cards 75 -
96).
— The second Italy set to contain non-base set cards - ten Motion Cards, aka lenticular cards, numbering from A through I and L. Three of the ten motion cards, for both versions, are the same number and character found in the 10-card foil set for the U.K. ANS1 card set; numbers 1 (A), 7 (G) and 10 (L). Only U.S. ANS1 foil card characters were chosen for the Kakkones and Sgorbions sets. Even though the Italy animate cards have 2 panels only, they are more clear and opperational than the ANS7 motion cards.  — The set has a great Gross-Green Border that goes well with the ANS1 U.S. and international themes. This is very reminiscent of Italy's earlier GPK releases called the Sgorbions where the sets after the 1st release contained coloured borders. — U.S. ANS1 and ANS2 Foil Sticker images are used within the Italy ANS1 set, and like many of the international sets, which portrays the cards on regular card stock rather than foil card stock. — The set contains five of the six Scratch 'n Stink Chase Cards From the ANS2 set placed within the new Sgorbions and older Kakkones series as regular cards without the scratch 'n' stink affect. The only SnS character not pictured within the set is S2a Cheese LUIS and S2b Eruptin' ERIC. — The set contains both of the U.S. ANS2 Bonus Cards found within the game card base set. The images for both B1 On Camera CAMERON and B2 Paintball PAUL. Kakkones version:  — Since the set contains No Stickers and is completely card-based, the set has no 'PEEL HERE' arrows. And much like album-based sticker sets, the card number shows up on the back of the game card, rather than the front, which usually occurs for most internatiaonl GPK stickers sets that are 'pasted' into albums ... this leaves the front of the card looking very 'clean'. — The 2018 set does Differentiate from the original 2008 set... besides the brand name change, the binder is much smaller, containing 4-pocket pages (instead of 9-pockets), and comes with a magazine. Additionally, and most importantly, cards 22, 47, 78 and 80 have characters from Kakkones Series 1 swapped out for characters from Kakkones Series 2. — The set contains No Checklist, the back of the card album acts as the checklist for the game card set. The album contains only images and numbers/letters for the characters, the names on the images are too small to read. This is very similar to the U.S. and Canadian sticker album backs made by the Imperial Toy Corporation that more or less showcased uncut sheets. "COLLECT THEM ALL"  — The packs contain Foil Wrappers, much like the U.S. releases, rather than the paper-based wrappers of the older International releases. See wrapper images above within the 'Production' section. — The set mainly consists of artwork from the ANS1 and ANS2 U.S. sets with images also from the original GPK sets including OS10 through OS15 sets. Please see the checklist below for more information on which image came from which U.S. set. — The set contains No Puzzles. |
